Bohdan Robert “Bob” Bunda, 86, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. He was born December 20, 1925 in New York City, NY, son of William and Mary Bunda. He married Ida Pauline “Polly” Clark Kent on June 16, 1988. Bob served twenty-seven years in the U. S. Army with nineteen of those years being in Europe. During World War II he served in both North Africa and Italy, and also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. After retirement he continued his military service for an additional sixteen years with the ROTC Recruiting Department of the Muscogee County School System in Columbus, GA. Following his military service, he retired to Iuka where he enjoyed his yard and flowers, bird watching, dogs, and family. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Ronnie Goodwin. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Polly Bunda, of Iuka, MS; one step daughter, Debbie Sutherland (Mark Stuart) of Cape Girardeau, MO; one step son, Donny Kent (Katy) of Phenix City, AL; and two step grandchildren, Bain Hogencamp and Jori Kent. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony United Methodist Church.
