Mamie Leo Nichols, 93, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Friday, January 20, 2012, at Carrington House in Iuka. She was born October 22, 1918 in Tishomingo County to Lee and Ruth Broughton. She married Leonard Nichols in 1939, and had four children. She was a teacher and began her teaching career at Central School and Hubbard Salem School in Tishomingo County and at Lone Pine School in Alcorn County. She retired from Headstart in 1989. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 8 PM on Saturday, January 21 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Dr. Ronnie Hatfield. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jimi Odle, Wendell Dixon, Sammy Broughton, Heath Castile, Trey Alexander, and Danny Matlock. Honorary bearers will be Harold Lomenick, Earl Solomon, Kenny Coleman, and Harold Boothe. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include 3 sons – Paul Nichols (Pat), David Nichols (Sandra), and Tommy Nichols (Carol), all of Iuka; 1 daughter – Donna Nichols of Iuka; 1 sister – Virginia “Ginny” Anglin of Iuka; and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Nichols; her parents, Lee and Ruth Broughton; and her brother, James L. Broughton.
