John Terrell “Ted” Castleberry, Sr., 94, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, November 21, 2011, at his residence. Ted was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on June 1, 1917 to John Felix Castleberry and Cara Blanche Edwards Castleberry. He was a member of the Iuka United Methodist Church and the Iuka Masonic Lodge #94. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Air Force in England and Ireland. He was a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Tuscumbia, Alabama until transferring to Iuka in 1967. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, at the Iuka United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Jon Kaufman. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include John Curtis Castleberry, John L. Castleberry, Robert E. Castleberry, Steve Castleberry, Roger K. Lewis, Jr., and Dr. William Lewis. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Billie Sue Cutshall Castleberry of Iuka, MS; one son, John T. Castleberry, Jr. and wife, Shelia, and one daughter, Susan Lynne Castleberry Barrett, all of Iuka, MS; one brother, Gene Neil Castleberry of Tuscumbia, AL; a granddaughter, Jennifer Susanne Barrett of Paris, TN; a grandson, John Curtis Castleberry of Iuka, MS; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mayedele C. McKelvey; two brothers, James Lynn Castleberry and Edward Thurman “Billy” Castleberry; and a grandson, Kenneth Wayne Barrett, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iuka United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 101 E. Eastport St., Iuka, MS 38852.
