Ed Amerson, 93, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was born in 1918 in Lake, MS, and was the 3rd oldest child of 11 children. He was an U.S. Army and U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. He served in the 1st Army, 116th Regiment, 3rd Division, and fought in 5 major European campaigns as a Corporal and a medic. He received two Purple Hearts for the injuries he sustained during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired in 1980, and moved back to Burnsville and raised cattle. He was an Elder in the Berea Church of Christ for 28 years, and was known for his loving heart, and giving spirit. Visitation is scheduled for 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday, November 22 at Berea Church of Christ. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Berea Church of Christ, officiated by Jim Estes and John Hardwick. Interment will follow in Little Flock Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jimmy Calton, James Lovelace, Rick Wixom, John Parsons, Ray South, and Ben South. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by 1 son – Tony E. Amerson of Hernando, MS; 1 daughter – Mary Jo Ott of Henagar, AL; 1 brother – Doyle Amerson of LA; 1 sister – Clara B. Compton of Southaven; and 3 grandchildren – James Chisholm of Southaven; Brent Amerson of Esparto, CA; and Daisy May Amerson of Esparto, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ara Pearl Amerson; his parents, Andrew and Clara Amerson; 2 brothers, and 6 sisters.
