Bro. Joe M. Cobb, Sr., 79, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at his residence. He was a Baptist minister to several churches throughout the area for many years, and was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was also the Baptist Student Union director for 27 years at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 7 PM on Tuesday, September 6 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church in Belmont and will be officiated by Bro. Jim Holcomb, Bro. Jerry Williams, and Bro. Randy Buse. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dr. Rose Cobb of Iuka, 1 son – Joey Cobb (Becky) of Iuka; 2 brothers – Ronald Cobb (Novoko) and Jimmy Cobb, both of New Albany, MS; and 2 grandchildren – Sara Beth Cobb of Cumberland, RI and Jake Cobb of Iuka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Maybelle Cobb. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Mississippi Community College Baptist Student Union Scholarship in honor of Bro.
