Hurschel W. Whitaker, 86, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at his residence. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII, and was of the Seventh Day Adventist faith. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 19, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Whitaker of Burnsville, MS; 1 son, Dr. David Whitaker of Castle Rock, WA; 1 step-son, Rodney Reynolds of San Bernardino, CA; 1 step-daughter, Wanda Burford of Sequim,Washington; 2 sisters, Lois Spoon and Mildred White, both of Burnsville, MS; 2 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
