Alma Ruth Daugherty, 73, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at her residence. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. She attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and graduated from Mississippi State University where she earned a Masters Degree in Education. She was a retired school teacher and taught in Allsboro, AL for six years and in Iuka, MS for 30 years. She loved basketball and was an avid Mississippi State fan. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Jon Kaufman and Rev. Ann Kaufman. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Trip Lomenick, Glen Ray Harris, Benny Parrish, Glenn Whitlock, Paul Whitlock, and James Crowell. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include 1 son, John Dennis Daugherty and wife, Tommy Jean, of Iuka, MS; 1 brother, Johnny Biggs of Iuka, MS; 2 sisters, Rayma Biggs and Mary Louise Biggs, both of Iuka, MS; and 2 grandchildren, Monica Jean Daugherty and Colton Dennis Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her husband, D. S. Daugherty; her parents, Charlie and Blanche Biggs; and 3 brothers, Howard, Jessie, and Alton Biggs.
