Cecil Phifer, 88, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. He was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church, and was a 50-year member of the Iuka Lodge #94 F&AM. He served on the City of Iuka Board of Aldermen for 16 years, and worked at Cutshall Funeral Home as a licensed funeral director for 44 years. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 until 9:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Greg Woodruff and Bro. Tony Curtis. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include David Whitfield, Austin Whitfield, Andrew Whitfield, Alex Whitfield, Al Collins, Joshua Norris, and Bobby Phifer. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by 1 daughter, Brenda Whitfield (Jimmy) of Iuka, MS; 2 sons, Noonan Phifer (Lila) of Talladega, AL, and John Norris (Mitzi) of Jackson, MS; 2 brothers, L. D. Phifer of Iuka, MS, and M. B. Phifer of Burnsville, MS; 4 grandchildren, Mary Jane Whitfield Collins (Al) of Bailey, MS, David Noel Whitfield (Cindy) of Iuka, MS, Megan Norris Jones (Matt) of Knoxville, TN, and Joshua Norris of Jackson, MS; and 7 great-grandchildren, Lillian Collins, Georgia Collins, Elizabeth Collins, Austin Whitfield, Andrew Whitfield, Alex Whitfield, and Lydia Jones. He was preceded in death by 2 wives, Lillian McMasters Phifer and Rosa Parham Phifer; 1 son, Billy Ray Norris; and 2 brothers, Oris and Owen Phifer.
