W. J. Carlisle

Willie Jefferson Carlisle, Jr., 81, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Sunday April 17, 2011, at the Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. He served in the U. S. Air Force and attained the rank of Corporal. Earlier in life he dug wells and graves. He later retired from Roadway following 25 years of employment as a dock worker. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Dr. Ronnie Hatfield and Bro. Greg Woodruff. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Earl Walker, James Floyd Walker, Jake Walker, Larry Carlisle, John Henry Carlisle, and J. D. Grisham. Honorary Pallbearers include SPC Patrick Hopkins, Dr. Al Flannery, James Vandiver, Hafford Luttrell, and Ralph Shoffner. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Lewis Carlisle of Iuka, MS; 1 daughter, Patsy Carlisle Puckett of Iuka, MS; 1 sister, Faye Grisham and husband, J. D., of Burnsville, MS; 1 step-sister, Rachel Welch of Iuka, MS; 1 grandchild, Leslie Ranea Brewer of Iuka, MS; 2 great-grandchildren, Harley Mechael Barrett of Iuka, MS, and SPC Patrick Hopkins of Ft. Drum, NY; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Effie Claire Mechael Razutis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J. and Sina Moore Carlisle; his step-mother, Annie Carlisle; 2 brothers, Clifford and Clarence Carlisle; and 2 sisters, Deffie Middleton and Ethel Luttrell.
