Carolyn J. “Cootie” McVay, 67, of Cherokee, Alabama, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, TN. She was a member of Asphalt Rock Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing and bingo. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, at Asphalt Rock Baptist Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, at Asphalt Rock Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Perry Murphy and Bro. Andy Elliott. Interment will follow in Asphalt Rock Cemetery. Pallbearers include David Cornelius, Shawn Dawson, Rush Alexander, Bubba LeFan, Jamie Ham, and James Ham. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Billy McVay of Cherokee, AL; her mother, Mazell Scott of Cherokee, AL; 1 son, Robbie McVay and wife, Yvonne, of Cherokee, AL; 2 daughters, Tammy Foust of Florence, AL, and Christy Staggs and husband, Norman, of Cherokee, AL; 2 brothers, Ronnie Scott and wife, Mary Alice, of Iuka, MS, and Ricky Scott and wife, Sue, of Cherokee, AL; 1 sister, Diane Ham and husband, James, of Cherokee, AL; 9 grandchildren, Cody McVay, Allison McVay, Josh McVay, Danny Carmack, Kristina Carmack, Mindy Alexander, Scott Foust, Kash Staggs, and Cheyanne Staggs; 4 great-grandchildren, Skie McNatt, Logan Foust, Jaden Foust, and Glock Alexander; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Scott; and a sister, Judy LeFan.
