Alfred Henry Poquette, Sr., 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at the Carrington House in Iuka. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from U. S. Steel in Gary, IN, where he worked as a crane operator for 43 years. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 14, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Roger Wood. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by 1 son, Alfred H. Poquette, Jr., and wife, Bobbie L., of Iuka, MS; 1 daughter, Charlotte J. Ramsey and husband, Dennis L., of DeMotte, IN; 1 brother, Vernon D. Poquette of Santee, CA; 2 sisters, Rita Sievern of St. John, IN, and Violet Miller of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris E. Poquette; a brother, Edward Poquette; a sister, Ida Peterson; and a great-grandchild, Kassondra Ramsey.
