Sylvia Eve Williams Rushing, 57, of Florence, Alabama, died Friday, February 6, 2004, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, Florence, AL. She was born July 14, 1946, in Booneville, MS, to Glenn and Mary Williams. She graduated from Burnsville High School in 1964 and earned a home economics degree from Mississippi State College for Women in 1968. She later taught school in Mississippi, Indiana, Maryland, Delaware, Georgia, California, and Illinois. She retired with her husband in 1999 to Florence, AL and worshipped at Killen Church of Christ. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and also pursued a longtime, passionate interest in genealogy. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, at Cutshall Funeral Home - Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel - Iuka, officiated by Stan Dean. Interment will follow in Burnsville Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Travis Rushing of Florence, AL; her father, Glenn B. Williams of Iuka, MS; her son, J. Taylor Rushing of Tallahassee, FL; and a brother, Dale Williams of Iuka, MS. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Catherine Rushing, and her mother, Mary Williams.
